Sixt Form see Grease

Grease is The Word for Sixth Form Students

Last week a group of Sixth Form students, including myself, were transported back to the 1950’s when we went to see a production of the musical ‘Grease’ at the Theatre Royal Plymouth. This step back in time was nothing short of a joy to experience.

The musical featured outstanding performances from Danielle Hope (Sandy) and Tom Parker (Danny). Their voices meshed well and along with the supporting cast and the classic soundtrack gave the room a palpable amount of energy and vigor. It was so great that three Sixth Form students literally danced and sang at every opportunity they could, displaying just how infectious the cast and soundtrack of Grease is.

‘Greased Lightnin’ and ‘You’re the One That I Want’ were the standout songs. Whilst they are already fan favourites, this particular production made them better. The rock and roll punch of ‘Greased Lightnin’ was performed perfectly and the use of a car emulated the film well. On the other hand, ‘You’re the One That I Want’ resonated with the room thanks to the performances from Danielle, Tom and the entire cast as they all danced and sang alongside one another.

This production of Grease was an invigorating two hours and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
