School Books for AfricaAs we approached the end of term there was a fantastic effort across all departments to find old textbooks to donate to School Aid, a charity which sends books and resources to less privileged children in Africa.
What started as a large pile soon grew into a small mountain! Calls went out for more boxes to package the books, which staff and students alike hunted down, all the while more books appeared out of dusty cupboards and shelves. Eventually all the books were boxed up and loaded into five cars! They were taken to the depot in Plymouth city centre where they were sent to Africa.
The charity dispenses the books to poorer regions, where students may never have been fortunate enough to receive an education if it wasn’t for the effort made by staff and students at Sir John Hunt.
