Work ExperienceYear 11 students started their careers journeys last week when they all took part in a week of work experience. Companies throughout the city welcomed students and took them under their wings introducing them to a week of work. Placements included department stores, global companies, national food chains, schools and many more. Throughout the week students were able to gain insight into a particular career or industry to give them an idea if this will be the right choice for them. The experience also helps to develop valuable employability skills in particular communication and teamwork as well as enhancing their CV which they will write later in the year.
Feedback from employers was simply magnificent. Here are just a few examples:
"These are the best students that we ever had on placement from any school. They are extremely polite, professional and a real credit to the school. We have offered them part time work when they reach 16."
"A polite, hard working and mature student who was a pleasure to have on placement and an exemplary student."
Plymouth Community Homes
"A very pleasant student who was extremely mature and great with the children. We would offer her a job without hesitation."
Little Blossoms Nursery
On visits the staff commented on how smart, mature and professional they looked and how they were great ambassadors for the College. The week went extremely well with students saying that this was a great experience and has made them more focussed for their GCSEs and think more about their careers.
