Students Success at County Ability GamesOn Thursday 27th April twenty seven Year 7 students travelled to the Life Centre to take part in the Level 3 County Ability Games. They had qualified for this by doing amazingly well at the Level 2 games at UCP Marjons. The students were split into teams and in the morning took part in the competition element of the games. They participated in sports such as archery, new age kurling, seated volleyball and mini tennis, all events aimed at inclusive participation. The students did amazingly well during their morning session and the College managed to pick up a number of medals including bronze in the tennis and an individual medal for Summer Franklin for her outstanding eff ort in the seated volleyball.
During the afternoon they were able to spend time in small groups going around and taking part in the taster sessions that were on off er. These included table cricket, frisbee golf, dance, taiko drumming, cage basketball and rock climbing. This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to try new activities and to explore what the Life Centre had to offer.
Throughout the day the students demonstrated excellent team work, perseverance and were a credit to the College. I think the day can be summed up by a quote from Malachi Smaga "I am having so much fun I forgot I was on a school trip".
