Outdoor and Adventurous Activities

Climbing club on Thursday at the Life Centre wall is going well. Students are getting used to starting off in the bouldering cave and warming up first to prevent injury. They then attempt to climb the hardest things they can find. The climbers love bouldering, especially Jack, Travis and Sean who are showing great commitment in attempting routes which they find very hard to begin with, then working at it until they succeed, even if it means coming back next week to try again.

Climbing club continues every Thursday 3:05 – 5:45pm.

The bike maintenance club welcomed helpers from BikeSpace and Sustrans this week. Everyone learned how to change and adjust gear and break cables. Every student who attended has received a bike to work on which, if they continue every week, they can keep for themselves to ride into school and go mountain biking. The atmosphere in the garage was fun and focused with every student working well and learning new skills.

Bike Maintenance continues every Wednesday after school 3:05 – 4:30pm.

The Intervention team practiced some teamwork in Whitleigh woods on Thursday. We set up a ‘slackline’ and they helped each other to balance along it, progressing to attempt it alone. They showed a good deal of responsibility and trust to each other. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to do it again and make it all the way across!

Bikeability lessons in PE have continued with the girls mastering right turns and a small roundabout in cold but clear weather. It is great to see the focus and care they take on the roads and how exciting they find it. Lets hope the rain holds off soon so more can go out!
