Duke of Edingburgh Awards

Outdoor and Adventurous Activities

The Duke of Edinburgh Award has expanded within the College these last few weeks, with 14 participants achieving bronze and Mark Richards achieving silver. Twenty new bronze award hopefuls have signed up and have already started their activities including such things as pet care, music, game design, football, netball and rock climbing.

The gold award participants will begin fundraisng for their expedition and residential sections, hopefully heading to Snowdonia for their expedition and taking part in conservation projects in the south west for their residentials.

Rock climbing club has progressed well, with each participant now within their third week showing new highpoints and taking on some new techniques. Xandria Bell did very well to hold her own on her first climb last week with those who’ve been a few times already.

Ryan Evans from Sustrans came to help teach some bike maintenance skills. The students learned to change brake cables and headsets. The club continues every Wednesday evening until 4:30pm.
