Boys U15 Plymouth Indoor Cricket Fixtures

Nine of our students travelled to Hele’s School on Monday 30th November to take part in the boys U15 Indoor Cricket League. The overall winners of the 8 over games were to progress to level 3 county matches.

The SJH team had previous experience playing in the central venue fixtures in the summer where they narrowly lost to All Saints but beat Torbridge. The 9 man squad can be seen in the photo above.

The standard of cricket was excellent with some students playing for local and county teams. The boys came into the fixtures having had some training but were impressed with the level of cricket being played.

Overall we played some good cricket but lacked the skill and experience to overhaul a very strong DHS side who beat us comprehensively 109-15. However, it was in our second game against Hele’s that we came into our own with some excellent batting from Bailey Morgan who put on a quick stand of 39. Then it was our turn to bowl and we got off to a great start reducing their men to 7 for 2 after just 2 overs. We looked steady for the next couple of overs where only 8 runs were scored leaving Heles needing 25 runs off the last 4 overs. For the next 2 overs we bowled well with us not leaking too many runs, however, in the last two overs some good batting from the home side saw them hit the winning runs with just 2 balls left of the match. A fantastic match for the neutral but the boys were disappointed not to take the victory.
