Mentoring With MarjonsOn Wednesday 11th November eleven Year 10 MAT (More Able and Talented) students met their mentors from Marjons for the launch of the mentoring scheme. Students had already met with me to map out their future plans and aspirations, what they would need to achieve this and how they could get there. These storyboards were sent to Marjons who used this information to match our students with the right mentor for them. On Wednesday, they had a chance to ask their mentor questions they had prepared and get to know who they are and what they do at the university. They then had a challenge to complete – to build a free-standing giraffe in just 5 minutes! The MAT students really enjoyed the opportunity to work together, alongside their mentor and the challenge that went with it! The session was on Wednesday 25th November, 3.15-4.00 pm where they focused on time management and organisational skills in preparation for their upcoming pre-public exams.
